Eligibility

 

Countries

Countries entering must be members of the Commonwealth and be current members of the CFF.

Licence

All athletes and referees must have a current FIE licence

Entries

All entries must be made by the recognised governing body of each Nation (as listed by the CFF) on the official entry form by the closing date (to be advised).

 

Equipment and Clothing

 

Equipment

  • FIE Rules for equipment/clothing apply
  • 800n Uniforms (jacket, pants, underplastrons)
  • 1600n masks
  • FIE stamped blades
  • Visor masks as per FIE rules:
    - Sabre – Optional
    - Epee/Foil – NOT PERMITTED
  • Lame bib for foil is required for ALL foil events.

While all clothing must comply with the FIE rules, the rule requiring all team members to be dressed the same will not be applied.

Clothing

  • Fencers must wear their name and 3 letter country code (for UK fencers this is NOT GBR) on the back of their jackets – letters in dark blue capitals between 8 and 10 cm in height.
  • Authorised national colours/logo (for Senior UK fencers this is NOT GBR) on both legs, optional on arms.
  • Any other national identifications must be removed or covered up. The general clothing standards must adhere to the FIE standards.

Equipment control

Equipment will be controlled to a schedule to be published following receipt of entries.

Lodgment will be the morning of the day prior to an event with pick-up the evening before. Minor failures will be repaired where possible. Items rejected shall have a clear indication of the reason for failure. A re-lodgment process will be in place.

Equipment is to be lodged by delegations, not individuals.

The number of articles handed to the Checking Centre for each event is limited per fencer to:

  • Four weapons
  • Four bodywires
  • Two gloves/cuffs
  • Two conductive jackets
  • Two masks
  • Three mask-to-jacket leads
  • 1 jacket for épée*
  • 1 pair breeches*

*A protocol will be announced to verify these items “on the fencer” during training sessions.

 

Format and Rules

 

CJFC 2012 will be conducted under the Commonwealth Fencing Federation Championship Rules.
